In an attempt to confront our own mis-conceptions of “the other,” we struggled to write and photograph in a way that exhibited wonder, curiosity and common humanity, rather than the “other.” We consciously engaged with our own and others’ narratives of “us” and “them.” Upon returning from Kenya, we felt paralyzed by our struggle in separating wonder from other. This page is an attempt to engage my paralysis. All of these depicted individuals have names and stories that are their own. These photos show my own narrative.
